Meet Melissa Thomas!

With over 20 years of experience as a dedicated math educator, Melissa brings warmth, patience, and a deep love for learning to her students. She specializes in creating a comforting, encouraging space where children feel safe to explore, ask questions, and build early confidence in math. Rather than focusing on high-stakes pressure, Melissa believes math should feel approachable, engaging, and directly connected to a child’s natural curiosity.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Pure Mathematics from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, along with Texas Educator Certifications. While her extensive background includes teaching at advanced levels, her true passion lies in meeting young learners right where they are building rock-solid foundational skills through positive reinforcement, hands-on understanding, and a gentle, supportive approach.

As a mom, Melissa deeply values alternative, educational spaces that offer children both rich community and a diverse network of supportive mentors. She believes it takes a whole community of caring voices to help a child flourish academically and socially.

When she isn't teaching, Melissa loves growing her own food, working in her community garden, going for runs, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She is so excited to join the HeartSync family and looks forward to nurturing your child's growth, curiosity, and joy in learning this year!
